Lady in the Cave

The Lady in the Cave was an immersive installation presented in an enclosed, darkened space at Otis College of Art and Design. Conceived as a contemporary hermitage, the work invited withdrawal from the sensory and social noise of daily life — a descent into a metaphoric cave.

Appearing as a moonless expanse at the cave’s mouth, the installation featured sparse lighting and a low, continuous brown sound. Visitors were encouraged to enter, sit, and remain for as long as they wished. For four hours and forty-four minutes, the artist occupied the cave, largely concealed from view, available to receive any question or conversation offered to “the lady in the cave.”

As both performance and meditation, the work explored how stillness, isolation, and the suspension of time might reawaken perception. Drawing inspiration from the monastic and hermitic traditions, The Lady in the Cave proposed a shared space of quiet revelation — a site where absence itself became a form of presence.

Transubstantiation

This installation pulls from the themes of Catholic Mass, tarot, and casino card table games. The space was later activated by a performance where viewers could bet on a card game and sometimes the cards would foretell futures and sometimes a token would be eaten by the performer acting as dealer and psychic.

Consciousness At The Burrito Stand

Consciousness: the Mural at The Burrito stand was a 360 degree mural and interactive art installation for Downtown Project and the Life is Beautiful Festival on the historic Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas. Conceptualized, created and painted by Alexandria Lee in collaboration with three-dimensional designer for the interior by Christopher Kachurak. This piece explored the ideas of Mother Nature and Mother Technology and what it means for us moving forward in the chaos of the Information Age as we progress to the Intuition Age. A kaleidoscope of lights in the forms of a branching tree come alive at night and play along with the piano. The street piano adjoined to the mural was there for anyone off the streets to play so that they may become apart of the piece.
